Entry Two - On the Road
Evening – Night two
It is the third night of my journey to Corvis and thus far all has been quiet and really quite nice to get out and see the country. We really are lucky to live in such a nice land. Its too bad its been ravaged by was and conflict for so long.
Sitting around the camp fire with is a motley crew of characters, I tell you. Had I not been there when Gunner, our caravan guide, introduced us all I would have thought I was the only one to take the guard job. First we have a stout Dwarven fellow who refuses to give his name and claims to be one of the fabled Gun Mages but he has no gun! How can a Gun Mage not have a gun? Perhas he lost his trusted pistol and is on a quest to retrieve it but let’s be honest, that sounds more like a childs tale than the truth. Perhaps he simple gone mad? I’ll have to get to the bottom of this.
Next we have a completely unarmed or armored fellow. He goes by the name of Kah and he claims to be a member of the Order of the Fist. A Menite Monk this far into Cyngar? Sure, there are plenty around who worship Menoth but I it is rare indeed for one of their Monks to be travelling alone this far from home. While id be curious to hear his story, he’s rather brash and cocky so I really don’t have much interest in conversing with him more than I have to.
Rounding out the four guards is a quirky little Gobber named Stringer. He’s a funny little fellow whom I at first thought to be our mechanic but he carries a crossbow in addition to a very large wrench. He is continually pestering Gunner, which drives the old, weathered caravan master mad. I admit, I get a kick out of it. After all, we need a little entertainment on this trip. I suppose it’s time to call it a night – we have another long day ahead of us and Stringer won’t stop bugging me about what I am writing and why.
May Markus protect me,
